AUTHORS ARE ROCKSTARS: Kiki Hamilton

Hi everyone!!! Boy am I excited to be able to host today's stop on the Authors are Rockstars tour.  I get the awesome job of introducing you to the fabulous Kiki Hamilton.
Why is she fabulous you say??
This is easy...She is one PHENOMENAL writer.  I was so fortunate to be able to pick up her Faerie Ring series on a blog tour a while back and completely fell in love with the magical and mystical world that she created.  But, that is not all that makes her wonderful...Kiki builds a world in her books that is deep rooted in history that whisks you away to that time, allowing you to feel as if you have hopped in a time machine and traveled back and BAM...you are now in cheery ole England in the 1800's.

Caught up in a whirlwind of factual historical scenes; you gasp when that world is ultimately turned in to the most elaborate whimsical universe where faeries reside...
But, I am not going to embellish all the fantastical details of this brilliantly written series...I really do hope that you will take a chance and try them yourselves...
What I want you to know is that Kiki Hamilton is truly a ROCKSTAR in which she will knock your socks off with the non-stop, action-packed, suspense filled tales found within the pages of her Faeries Ring series....
Thank you so much Rachel, Jaime, and Mindy for allowing me the opportunity to blast my adoration for such a talented and marvelous author as Kiki Hamilton!! You are ROCKSTARS!!
So, without any further delay....follow me and lets get to know Kiki just a little bit better.

Ok TSK TSKers....today we are fortunate to have the wonderful, amazing Kiki Hamilton with us and I, Kat, had the chance to ask her some questions to showcase her awesomeness!!!
So, sit back and get to know a little more about the fabulous Kiki!!

Kat: So, I see you are an avid reader...What are a couple of your top books and what are you reading right now?
Kiki:  My favorite books are Harry Potter, The Thief, The DaVinci Code and Anna and the French Kiss. Right now I’m reading a book about brand design which is for my day job as a marketing consultant. :)
Kat: I loooove the Harry Potter series!! One of my faves too!!
So, if you could have dinner with one person alive or dead, who would it be and why?
Kiki:  I’d love to have dinner with JK Rowling and talk about Harry and Hogwarts and the whole magical world. In a perfect world, I’d have dinner with her AT Hogwarts.
Kat: Yes, she would be one of my top ones too!! How much time goes in to your research for your stories?
Kiki:  LOTS!  I try to keep my historical facts accurate, so it takes a lot of time to research the Victorian era to add a realistic flavor to my stories.
Kat:  Do you have pictures of your characters and scenery for your books?
Kiki:  Not really. I found a picture of a girl once that looks just like I imagine Larkin to look, but mostly the world is just in my head. If so, do you display them while writing? Nope. It’s all in my head – which could be a good or bad thing….
Kat:  Do you have a routine or rituals when you are writing?
Kiki:  No routine or ritual. I just sit down and write whenever I have time, though I’ve been taking a break the last few months, which is the first time in a couple of years. I’m just about to start book 4, THE FAERIE QUEEN, so then I’ll be back to cramming it in whenever I can.
Kat: What is a typical day for you?
Kiki:  I work full time so I get up about 6:15, work from 8-5, come home, make dinner, do laundry etc. and so forth. I write in the evenings and weekends when I’m not running errands or goofing off. ;-)
Kat:  What type of music do you like?
Kiki:  I love lots of kinds of music: Indie, Rock, Blues, R&B, Pop, Jazz, Swing, Orchestral. It all depends on my mood. Really into Ed Sheerhan right now.
Kat: Who is your favorite character in The Faerie Rings series?
Kiki:   I think Larkin is my favorite character because she’s so unpredictable. You never know if she’s good or bad or what she’s going to do next. Your least favorite? I think Donegal is my least favorite character.
Kat:  Who is the most difficult to write?
Kiki:  Donegal is probably the hardest to write because it’s difficult to do bad things to people you care about.
Kat: The most fun??
Kiki: Larkin is definitely the most fun to write because she has no boundaries, though I love Tiki’s loyalty and how she cares for her family.
Kat: Do you have any hobbies?
Kiki:  I like sports – skiing, tennis, golf, swimming. I like to do creative things like paint occasionally, but writing takes up a lot of my free time. And I like to hang out with my teenage daughter.
Kat: Where is somewhere you would love to travel to?
Kiki:  I’d love to spend a year traveling around Europe. I’ve spent a little time in London and Paris, but there is SO much to see and do – so much history to explore. That is definitely on my wish list!
Kat:  Oh, those places are on my list of places I must see during my lifetime!!! Now, What's your favorite holiday and why??
Kiki:  I love Christmas – just the good food and the winter weather and the sparkly lights and the surprise of wrapped packages and the hope for snow….magical!
Kat: Oh Christmas!! I absolutely agree with you....What is something you do for fun?
Kiki:   I love to travel, I like to shop, and I like to garden.
Kat: Cool!!...So, what is coming up next? What are your plans for 2014?
Kiki:  Book 4, THE FAERIE QUEEN, is coming out in 2014 and I have an idea for a new series I might start. I’m hoping to travel to Paris with my family in the spring but haven’t got all the arrangements figured out for that yet. So possibly some big stuff!
Kat:  AWESOME!! Cannot wait!! Ok, now...some Rapid Fire Questions:

Favorite Color: Orange

Favorite Food: Fried Razor Clams

Latest Obsession: See’s Milk Chocolate Bordeaux chocolates

Last Movie watched: Super 8 (again) – I was on a  beach trip with 3 other mom

Kat:  SAHWEET!! Those are some superb answers!! Thank you so much Kiki for taking the time out of your busy schedule to answer my questions!! YOU TRULY ROCK!!!
TSK TSKers....thank you so much for stopping by and marveling in my fangirl moment!! :D
Laters!!

Kiki Hamilton is the author of THE FAERIE RING fantasy series and a YA contemporary novel entitled THE LAST DANCE which will be released Spring 2013.  She believes in magic and the idea of hidden worlds co-existing with our own.  Kiki lives near Seattle, though she dreams of living in London one day.

THE FAERIE RING series

Book One:  THE FAERIE RING
The year is 1871...

Tiki has been making a home for herself and her family of orphans in a deserted hideaway adjoining Charing Cross Station in central London. Their only means of survival is by picking pockets. One December night, Tiki steals a ring, and sets off a chain of events that could lead to all-out war with the Fey. For the ring is a reservoir that holds a truce between the English royals and the world of the Fey. But there are many who want the ring, including the mysterious Rieker, a handsome pickpocket who has been watching Tiki, and a rebel group of UnSeelie fey who would do anything to break the truce...

A delicious blend of urban fantasy and heart-stopping suspense, the story of THE FAERIE RING takes you from the gritty slums of London to the glittering ballrooms of the Royal Palace to the menacing Otherworld - in a spellbinding tale of mystery and suspense where nothing is what it seems...

A stolen ring, a broken truce, a kingdom in peril…

Book Three:  THE SEVEN YEAR KING

It is the seventh year—the time when the UnSeelie Court must pay a tithe to Seelie royalty to remain a separate entity.  Sacrificed at midnight on Samhain, the UnSeelies call their offering the Seven Year King.  This time, Donegal plans to sacrifice someone Tiki loves. To make matters worse, Fiona disappears, Johnny lies near death, and the threat of the liche comes closer.  Tiki's only hope is that she and Rieker can find an ancient faerie treasure and outsmart the Winter King before the turning of the seasons.  In this third book of The Faerie Ring series, Tiki is pulled between two worlds—and unable to find peace in either.
