BLOG TOUR: Witch Fall by Amber Argyle

Today we get to bring to you one of my favorites. Amber Argyle grabbed my attention when we were invited to her WITCH BORN tour. Neither of us had read the first book but being a HUGE fan of fantasy and witches, I jumped at the chance to catch up. And I had my mind blown. I'd never heard of witches like these and the world that was created for them was also unlike any other. Needless to say, I became Amber's (self proclaimed) #1 stalker. So I'm thrilled that we were lucky enough to grab a spot on this tour to celebrate the release of the third and final book in the series. [Please give us spinoffs, pretty, pretty please!!!]
Anyhoo, we want to thank Amber for the ARC's and Giselle at Xpresso Tours for being our host.
Just another quick note... you could easily read books 2.5 and 3 without reading the first two, SO if you haven't already read Witch Song, you can now get it FREE! Sharing is caring- tell your friends.

We hope you enjoy our post.
Don't miss the AWESOME GIVEAWAY!!! ~ Shell

All things fall.

Even Witches.

Supreme in their dominion over seasons, storms, and sea, the Witches have forgotten the unmatched destructiveness of mankind. And among the weapons men seek are the magical songs of the Witches.
Lilette is one of the few who see the decadence and decay weakening the Witches. As an outsider amid her own kind, can she help them survive the coming war?

Amber Argyle is the author of Witch Song and Fairy Queen trilogies. She grew up with three brothers on a cattle ranch in the Rocky Mountains. She spent hours riding horses, roaming the mountains, and playing in her family’s creepy barn. This environment fueled her imagination for writing high fantasy. She has worked as a short order cook, janitor, and staff member in a mental institution. All of which has given her great insight into the human condition and has made for some unique characters. She received her bachelor’s degree in English and Physical Education from Utah State University. She currently resides in Utah with her husband and three small children.

**During the tour, Witch Song is FREE on Amazon

I am in awe of Amber Argyle's prowess with the written word. As beautifully orchestrated as the other novels in the series, WITCH FALL and it's prequel novella, WITCH RISING are simply stunning and kept me enthralled to the very bittersweet end. Her world building is beyond compare. Her use of diverse cultures is so effective in setting up the struggles and revolts against opposing powers. It also makes for some gorgeous scenery. Amber has a flair for describing a scene, an area, a feeling, everything- so perfectly, you feel as if you've actually fallen into her world and become part of the story. You're not an innocent bystander, you're in the thick of it. And it's wondrous and strange and absolutely remarkable.
Here, she's taken us full circle with the Witches and Lilette. Wow. What a beginning. Finally witnessing her complete history and watching her become a legend before my eyes was amazing. And traumatizing…
What Lilette endures and overcomes as a young child is both tragic and miraculous. From the start, she has to dig deep within herself to survive. She can't use her "song" in order to keep herself and those she's come to love safe. She learned early on that her voice could be used as weapon. A tool to destroy the world and all she's known. A beacon. So she refrains from her impulses and makes the best of what's she been given. She blossoms into a strong, self reliant and beautiful young woman. Even though she longs for her homeland and her Witch sisters, she finds companionship, family. All that changes after a tragic accident and in her panic and pain, Lilette sings. It's not long before her whole world comes crashing down again, and this time, the cost for exposing herself sets off a horrifying chain of events she may not be prepared for or strong enough to persevere.
As much as I loved Bresenna and her story, there was something about Lilette that had me entranced. I was literally spellbound by her. Her character, tenacity, vulnerability, and refusal to give up or give in forced me to continue on her journey when my heart felt it could take no more. This is a truly epic journey. There is nothing easy about Lilette's life as a Witch. She struggles to make the best of it. Constantly looking for a way to avenge her family, the Witches, save her friends and loyal companions, and strive to embrace her Witchhood and be the leader she's always known she was meant to be. Jealousy, fear, and a thirst for ultimate power made Lilette a target from all sides.
What makes this story so heartbreakingly beautiful is the loyalty and sacrifices made by Lilette and those who love and chose to follow and protect her.  All of Lilette relationships (forced, out of necessity, and genuine) directly effect her plans and actions. She must decide quickly who she can trust, who to keep by her side, and who to manipulate. She makes a lot of critical mistakes, but she is powerful and wise beyond her years. She remembers lessons learned and words of wisdom passed on to her.
If you thrive on action, this book is for you. It's virtually nonstop. The majority of Lilette's battles are fought alongside my favorite character in this installment. As much as I loved Lilette, I fell and rooted for Han. Lilette's childhood friend plays such an important role in her comeuppance. He wears so many hats... friend, confidant, rescuer, a valiant soldier, loyal son and brother. A young man who has sacrificed himself again and again for what he thought was just. For his friend, his family, and his country. He is a complicated and somewhat mysterious character. You don't know if our heroine can truly trust him or not, but I guarantee you will root for him. And chastise Lilette on his behalf. He's extraordinary.

As I said, this story is packed with battles. Struggles for power, for freedom, for peace- and no one is immune to the fallout. The tone of Witch Fall is tremendously desperate and emotional. Wars are waged. Cities and people crumble and fall. It makes you think about the parallels to our world. How we are constantly divided. How power is control. How only the strong survive. And more than anything, it makes you feel. Among all the tragedy and destruction, there is immense beauty and even a bit of sweet romance. The Witch Song series as a whole is phenomenal. WITCH FALL is the perfectly executed epic conclusion. Amber Argyle has won me over yet again. And I'm sad to leave this magical world. She has created characters that will stick with me forever. And never again will I look at witches the same way.
