MEET VAN BLITZ!!! Last Second Chance by Caisey Quinn

MEET VAN

BIO
Twenty-six year old lead singer and guitar player for Hostage for Ransom. Currently residing at The Second Chance Ranch rehabilitation facility in Dallas, TX. He is originally from New York but lives in LA when he's not on the road with his band.

LIKES
Bourbon and brunettes. And blondes. And redheads.

DISLIKES
Anyone or anything that gets in his way.

VICES
Whatever drowns out the painful memories of his past.

INK
A black-winged angel on his back. A full sleeve on one arm depicting the path that led him to music.    A small cross below his left thumb. And some more, um, intimate ink in places you have to discover for yourself.

VAN RANSOM

“Damn you taste good, cowgirl,” he told her once she’d ridden out the remaining violent waves of ecstasy. “Here, taste.” Ignoring her wide eyes, he pressed his mouth to hers and lashed his tongue inside. He knew the sugared honey that was her arousal flared her desire because she clamped her legs around him and gripped his biceps hard enough to hurt. The way she dug her fingers in, as if she were holding onto him for dear life, made him ache to be inside her.
“Made up your mind yet?”
She pulled back from their kiss, still panting enough to make his entire life. “About?”
“Whether or not you believe the rumors. About me. Be honest.”
An impish grin lifted her lips. “Well, I can say with absolute certainty that you are, in fact, a madman.”
“That’s what they tell me, sweetheart.” He brushed his lips softly against hers to show her that, even as crazed as he was, madman or not, he could be gentle too—if that’s what she needed.
“Van…I need you,” she breathed. “Soon.”
The plea soothed every open wound he’d nursed for as long as he could remember. She needed him. And unlike the last woman who’d needed him, the one he’d failed miserably, he would be what Stella Jo Chandler needed. He would keep this one safe.
“You’ll have me. Soon. We’ll just have to be careful. I don’t want to cost you your job, cowgirl.”
She nodded. His eyes met hers and he saw it. She trusted him completely.
He would be worthy of that trust. Of her.
Or so help him, he’d cut out his own damn heart.

REVIEW: The Curse Breakers by Denise Grover Swank

For more than four hundred years, the Curse Keepers guarded the barrier between the human and spirit realms. All that changed the day Ellie Lancaster met Collin Dailey. Prophecy demanded they defend the world from evil?even as it ignited a passion that threatened to consume them both.
Now Ellie faces a frightening new life, abandoned by the man she loves and tormented by malevolent spirits unleashing their vengeance upon the earth. Her only shot at protecting humanity?and herself?from the demon scourge is to claim the mark of the god Ahone as her own. Finding it means trusting Dr. David Preston, a handsome professor of Native American studies whose skepticism is surpassed only by his attraction to Ellie. Together they must finish what the Curse Keepers began, defying the forces of darkness to face hell on earth?and unlock the truth of Ellie's destiny.

New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Denise Grover Swank was born in Kansas City, Missouri and lived in the area until she was nineteen. Then she became a nomadic gypsy, living in five cities, four states and ten houses over the course of ten years before she moved back to her roots. She speaks English and smattering of Spanish and Chinese which she learned through an intensive Nick Jr. immersion period.  Her hobbies include witty Facebook comments (in own her mind) and dancing in her kitchen with her children. (Quite badly if you believe her offspring.)  Hidden talents include the gift of justification and the ability to drink massive amounts of caffeine and still fall asleep within two minutes. Her lack of the sense of smell allows her to perform many unspeakable tasks.  She has six children and hasn’t lost her sanity. Or so she leads you to believe.

I was in complete turmoil all the way through this book...Don't get me wrong...It was a great book...It is just that what transpired in the pages of this book kept my stomach in knots...
Now, while I understood Ellie's anger and distrust toward Collin, I still really like him.  But this is kind of jumping ahead...
Ok...there is so much to this story.  Action-packed, filled with suspense; I was holding my breath the whole time waiting to see just what was going to happen to this little firecracker of a curse breaker known as Ellie.
She learns so much more in this book and there are pieces starting to come together.  *sighs* Still, there are so many holes to fill to solve the dilemmas in her life though.
But, she has enlisted the help of a young good-looking college professor that specializes in the legend and lore of her problems and this is where the whirlwind of excitement begins to take off.
Now, while I like the new guy, my heart was already given to Collin.  Yes...I am taking sides and I am #TeamCollin all the way...LOL!! I can't help but feel that the chemistry between Collin and Ellie is hotter and much more explosive...But...I will say...David is a great match for Ellie...I just don't FEEL the connection...
The Curse Breakers is a fabulous second installment.  I literally couldn't put it down because so much happens to keep you going until you reach the very end...
All I can say now is...When does book 3 come out??? Ahhhhh....I need more!!!!
Fantastic series, that if you haven't started it yet...pick up book one now...

....I felt my bed dip and sighed, “I’m getting up now.” “I should hope so. You wouldn’t want me to be late on my first day.” I squeaked and frantically pushed the covers from my head making a tangled mess of my hair. I shoved the hair outmy face, spitting out the pieces that stuck to my lips, to glare at the figure sitting at the foot of my bed. He grinned, “That’s an interesting look for you. What do you call it?” I brushed my hair down again and sat up trying to find my voice amidst the shock of him being in my room—of appearing in my room. “You’ve got about ten minutes before I need to pop you over to the fam so hop to it, love, and I’ll give you your reward.” I put my hands on my hips, causing the blanket to pool in my lap. The teasing look left his eyes as he took in myshoulders, bared by the spaghetti straps of my V-neck tank. His eyes roamed over the exposed skin, each pause of hisglance a visual caress. I crossed my arms, unintentionally revealing even more of myself to him, and he inhaled sharply. His eyes flashed to mine, and he searched my face. He slid along the edge of the bed to where I had my back pressed against the wall, his gaze never leaving mine. I was effectively caged in, his body on one side of me and the arm he was leaning on placed by my opposite hip. He radiated heat into the infinitesimal gap that separated our bodies. My lips parted on a swiftly in drawn breath, and when he glanced down at them, I bit the bottom one in anticipation. Chase groaned softly, and heat flared in his eyes. Bracing a hand on the wall beside my head, he leaned in closer. With the other he cupped my face, rubbing his roughthumb over the smoothness of my cheek. We inhaled short shallow gasps through our mouths, and he dipped his head, stopping just short of the spot Iached to have him touch. My lips tingled in anticipation. “Why can’t I get you out my head?” The vapor of his breath tasted sweet as I inhaled, and I waited for him to move that last excruciating millimeter.

Enjoy this teaser of Brittni and Justin's first encounter....
I was halfway through my second cup of coffee and finally working on my paper when the annoying squeals from a nearby table broke my concentration.
"What about this one?" a girl asked in one of those fake baby-talk kinds of voices that got on my nerves. I could practically hear her eyelashes batting.
"Well, sweetheart, I designed that one when I was seventeen. The other half is here," a masculine voice drawled behind me.
"Oh my god. On your thigh? I want to see," another voice squealed so loud that I'm sure dogs halfway across the state were sent into a barking frenzy.
"I'm not that easy, babe," the same masculine voice chuckled as he answered. "What are you willing to trade?"
"Oh brother," I said louder than I intended. The sudden silence behind me clued me in that my comment had been heard. Now was one of those times I wished my best friend Tressa was here. She hated when girls made an ass of themselves by fawning over some guy. Better her making the loudmouth comment than me.
"You mean, like, I'll show you mine, if you show me yours?" the same piercing voice asked after a few awkward moments had passed.
I waited to hear what his response would be, completely annoyed with myself for paying attention to their conversation. I fought the urge to turn and look at Mr. Sure of Himself to see what had the two girls so entranced.
"You have no interest in seeing my art?" he asked into my ear, making me jump.
I silently berated myself for jumping. "Excuse me?" I asked, taking in his rugged appearance. He had nice eyes, I'd give him that, but the typical bad boy getup made any interest I may have had go down several notches. It seemed like he was trying too hard to portray his image. Even the drenched white t-shirt that showed his six-pack abs and a well-defined chest covered in tattoos was a complete turnoff. I wondered what he would have done had it not been raining. Suddenly, I found myself laughing at a mental picture of him using a garden hose to soak himself down.
"What's so funny?" he asked, seeing that I was trying not to laugh. Without waiting for my answer, he pulled out an empty chair. The heavy metal squawked loudly across the concrete as he scooted himself toward the table.
"Why don't you sit down," I said sarcastically. "And get rid of the cigarette," I added, not caring that I didn't even know him.
His lips quirked at my testy tone before looking down at the cigarette. I expected him to scoff at my demand or even ignore it, but he surprised me by using the sole of his shoe to put it out. He earned a few more brownie points by placing the butt in his pocket versus throwing it on the ground.
"Won't your 'girlfriends' wither away into a pile of simpering drama now that you've left them?" I asked, casting a look over my shoulder where the two blonde bombshells were staring daggers into my back.
"Nah, they're cool," he said, flashing them a smile, which must have been laced with some kind of potion considering the way they both smiled back at him with such adoration. I was disgusted. He was nothing but a flirt who treated women with little respect.
"I think I'm going to hurl," I commented, making him turn his attention back to me.
He laughed. "You're hardcore. So, I'm getting the sense you don't like me. Is it because I interrupted your studying, or have we maybe hooked up before? Because I definitely think I would have remembered that."
"Please, I shudder at the thought. Does that crap actually work?" I sniped. The fact that he was callous enough to find nothing wrong with flirting with me while he was on some weird ménage-a-trois date was irritating as hell.
My comment only spurred more laughter from him. "I think you just broke my heart," he said, clutching his chest.
"I'm sure your playboy bunnies will be more than willing to repair it."
"How about you make it up to me by going out with me?"
This time it was my turn to laugh. "Um, no thank you."
"Why not?" he asked with genuine curiosity.
"Because, I don't like you," I answered, stating the obvious.
"How do you know? You don't even know me."
"Maybe not directly, but I know your type."
"My type?" he asked, ignoring the calls he was getting from the girls at the other table.
"Okay, let's forget for a moment how you're over here flirting with me while your fan club over there is cooling their heels waiting for you. I'm a little puzzled what they see in you, but the fact that they're dumb enough to actually share you makes me believe you must be an out-of-work musician or something like that. Guitar player, right?"

He threw his head back, laughing loudly at my analysis. "Wrong on both.

PROMO TIME!!! Teaching Willow: Session 3 by Paige James

It started with waking up in a strange place.

It ended with everything that I thought I knew coming into question.

Now, I’m watching love turn into hate, bend turn into break and lies turn into truth that hurts worse than the deception ever did.

Such is my life, The Wicked World of Willow Masters.

  • Describe Ebon in Five Words
E- Eloquent. I find that he can express himself very well, even in his own mind.
B- Bound.  He’s bound to Willow even though he doesn’t fully realize it.  But I think, in this session, he’s beginning to.
O- Oh-so sexy.  I love the image of Ebon. The way he speaks and moves.  God, he turns me on!
N- Naughty.  Deep down, Ebon is very, very dirty.  And I foresee him unleashing more and more of that with Willow.

  • Describe Willow in Five Words

W- Willful.  Willow has been repressed and now that she’s coming into her own (over a guy, no less), I think she’s very willful.
I- Independent.  She’s fought hard to get where she is. You get to see a bit more of that in this session.
L- Liar.  We all know she’s becoming very adept at lying, but I’m not sure I could call her a liar in that most malicious way.  I think she is a girl who got caught up in her own damage control and turned a molehill right into a mountain.
L- Loving.  For all her faults and bad choices, Willow loves and she loves hard.
O- Ornery.  We are going to see a bit of this in her and I, personally, can’t wait!
W- Weathered.  When she comes out of this hurricane, she’ll be weathered, but she’ll be stronger for it.

I'm a wife, a daughter, a sister, a friend, a drinker of wine, an animal advocate (even the ones that look like rodents) and a spinner of tales. Thank you for taking a chance on my work. RELEASE DAY BLAST: Convincing Constance by Tabatha Vargo

Happy Release Day for
Convincing Constance by Tabatha Vargo...
Make sure you join in the festivities here.

As the only survivor of a tragic accident, Tony Russell, aka Tiny, is mentally and physically scarred for life. Years later, he finds himself addicted to the gym and prescription drugs. Relationships and sex are the furthest thing from his mind, but when a replacement guitarist steps in for his band Blow Hole, Tony can’t help his physical reaction to her. She’s a spicy rocker with pink highlights and a scorching attitude, and she’s exactly what he needs…regardless of how badly he refuses to believe it.
Constance McClaire knows all about addiction. After growing up with a junky for a mother, she refuses to have anything to do with that life…until she meets the brooding, giant bass player for Blow Hole. He doesn’t take her shit, has sexy tattoos, and very large hands—but he’s clearly an addict and desperately needs help. Getting close to Tony without allowing herself to become emotionally attached is harder than she thought it would be. Addiction is addiction, no matter what it is swimming in your veins, and Constance finds its Tony she can’t get enough of.

Turned out Gary Steele from Music Line did have a job for me. I almost lost my shit when he said Blow Hole was looking for a replacement guitarist to finish their tour with them. Fucking Blow Hole! As in some of my favorite music to play.
I knew the chords to their songs better than any other band. I liked their sound and I’d always been able to pick up their pace right away. I could hardly believe my luck. So when he told me they wanted me to come to their condo in Los Angeles to audition, I was all over that shit.
I called Shay to bring me some gas money, told her why I needed it, listened to her scream on the other line, and then I drove entirely too fast to the address Gary gave me. I pulled up around the corner and changed my clothes in the backseat of my car before going inside the massive building the boys lived in.
When I finally made it to the top floor, I stood in front of the door and convinced myself that ringing the doorbell was the best thing I could do no matter how badly my nerves were jumping around. I’d never auditioned before since I’d never played for any other reason than I loved it, and I couldn’t lie. I was scared.
When I finally worked up the nerve, I reached out and rang the doorbell. I stood there waiting for someone to answer the door, but no one came. I rang the bell once more, and the door opened quickly.
“Can I help you?” It was Finn, the lead singer.
Everyone who loved music knew who Finn was. His voice was soulful. When he sang, he put so much emotion behind it you could almost believe he was living his lyrics. He was raspy and deep, and I’d be lying if I said he wasn’t attractive.
He was taller in person, and honestly, I expected more muscles, but that didn’t take away from his eyes or those lips that girls seemed to get wet over. He leaned against the doorframe with his arms crossed. A black shirt with cut-off sleeves covered his chest yet revealed his tatted arms, and a pair of drawstring sweats hung from his hips with loose ties that brought my eyes to his crotch.
Quickly, I looked back up at him and my cheeks turned red when his expression told me he’d caught me looking. Turning away, I adjusted my guitar case and shook the thoughts from my head. I wasn’t one to get star struck… ever, but Finn was the real deal.
Looking back up at him, the question in his eyes told me I needed to speak or he was going to close the door in my face.
“I’m here for the audition.” My voice cracked and I wanted to slap myself.
I needed to snap out of it.
I adjusted the guitar strap on my shoulder to show him I wasn’t messing around.
“You’re kidding, right?” His right brow popped up in challenge.
I didn’t have time for the whole females can’t play bullshit I knew was coming. So I went in for the kill.
“Do I look like I’m kidding? Is the word jokester tattooed across my forehead? Yes, I’m a chick. I have tits and a clit, but I have bigger balls than any man you know, and I can play the fuck out of a guitar. Now are you going to keep wasting my time, or are you going to invite me in to play?”
His mouth popped open in a wide, shocked smile. Then he chuckled to himself and stepped aside.
“Then by all means, come in.”
The space was sleek and clean considering it was the home of a bunch of rockers. Abstract red-and-black paintings of different instruments covered white walls, and the place smelled like pot and beer.
The place was huge. I followed behind Finn through three sets of doors until we were in a sitting room, and then I set my guitar case on the counter that split the living room from the kitchen.
A white, leather sectional filled the room. Eyes stared back at me as I entered behind Finn and instantly I recognized the drummer, Chet, and the bass player, Tiny. Finn left the room, leaving me in a silent uncomfortable moment.
Taking a seat on the edge of the couch, I kept my bitch face on. Chet grinned at me from across the room and nodded at me as he licked his lips. His tongue piercing clicked against his teeth. He was the colorful one of the group. Tattoos and piercings everywhere. I did, however, seriously dig his fauxhawk.
I’d been looking at him too long, and he was enjoying the attention. He was definitely the playboy of the group. I’d heard the rumors about him and how he stuck his cock in anything wet. I rolled my eyes and turned my head, and then my eyes connected with the bass player’s.
Tiny’s name was a joke considering there was nothing small about the man. He was huge. His thick tattooed arms were crossed. A look of absolutely no tolerance was plastered on his face. Quiet and mysterious was his game. Every band had one, and I usually dealt best with them, but something about the way he looked at me made me feel nervous.
His dark-brown hair was buzzed short and faded into a set a sideburns that melted into his light mustache and goatee. My eyes shifted to his lips and again, I wanted to slap myself. It was unlike me to even notice the things I’d noticed since I stepped into the den of sin, also known as the home of Blow Hole, and I wasn’t about to let the disgusting pheromones that lingered in the air get to me.
Tiny’s dark, angry eyes dug into mine and I suddenly felt exposed. I sat up and ran my fingers through my hair to make sure I had no strays poking out, and then I turned away from him. Even without looking at him, I could feel his gaze in the side of my face. I didn’t like it.
Just when I was close to telling him off, Finn came back into the room and crashed onto the couch. Behind him, Zeke, the lead guitarist, came limping in. A cast covered his picking hand and instantly I felt for him. I couldn’t imagine what it would be like to not be able to play. He looked at me in confusion as he sat down.
As far as I was concerned, Zeke was one of the best guitarists I’d ever heard. His technique was unusual, but the sounds that came from his strings were amazing. I’d practiced his sound since the first time I’d heard them play on the radio. I’d once see them from afar in concert at a bar in Los Angeles, but the boys were playing bigger venues these days.
“So where’s the replacement guitarist? Zeke asked in aggravation.
The room filled with laughter like I was a joke, and it pissed me off. I stood and crossed my arms to show them I wasn’t dicking around.
“That would be me,” I said sternly.
Zeke looked me up and down without a drop of sexual awareness in his gaze, and I appreciated the fact that he was simply sizing me up, not checking me out. It probably had something to do with the petite blond that had followed him into the room.
“Is that so?” he asked.
He was acting cocky, and honestly, he had every right to be.
“Yep. Want me to play or what?” I asked.
Everything depended on this job and while I knew some would call me stupid for being such a bitch, I knew the boys would appreciate it. I’d been a part of their world before. I knew all about the girls that chased rockers around with their legs open. I was sure it was refreshing to have a woman in their presence who didn’t drool all over them. I’d definitely checked them out, but I wasn’t the drooling type. Not to mention, I knew band boys weren’t for me—at all.
Zeke looked around the room at the rest of the guys. “Is this some kind of joke?” he asked.
Again, the boys burst out in laughter, which did nothing but make me madder.
“It’s not a fucking joke. Quit being a chauvinistic asshole. Either you want me to fucking play or not. Say something and quit wasting my goddamn time,” I snapped.
His stern expression cracked into an appreciative smile. “Then play,” he said with a careless shrug.
Stepping over to my guitar case, I flipped it open and pulled out my baby. It was a candy apple-red Les Paul from my dad. I barely played it, but I thought of this audition as a special occasion. The boys of Blow Hole didn’t need to see my normal guitar.
I strapped it on, took a deep breath, and began to play. My fingers dug into the strings and I closed my eyes and let go of everything. Rips and grinds filled the condo, bouncing off the walls and shaking the windows. I mimicked Zeke’s playing perfectly. I even ripped through his unique chords that other guitarist seemed to have a hard time with.
I played an entire song and no one stopped me. When I was done, I unhooked my strap and set my guitar back in its case. The room around me was silent, and when I looked up, looks of shock stared back at me.
The only girl in the room, the tiny blonde with ice-blue eyes, began to clap.
“That was amazing!” she said with a smile.
I nodded at her compliment and turned my attention back to Zeke. He stared at me with angry eyes. That was his thing. I don’t think I’d ever seen a real smile from him ever.
“What did you say your name was again?” he asked.
“I didn’t. No one bothered to ask. My name’s Constance,” I responded.
He looked around the room and then back at me. The side of his mouth lifted in an almost grin. “Well, Constance, welcome to Blow Hole.”

Blow Hole Lyrics

“The Addict”

The addiction you bring
It’s more than I can stand
Feeling your soulful depth
Why can’t you understand?
Bound by sick desires
Reaching for your sin
Body breathing fire
And I can’t let you in

Chorus:
Drugs don’t fail me now
For she’s forever gone
Despising all her strength
Against all that I’ve done wrong
Numb my aching heart
I’ll never be brand new
Finding who I am
In the high that comes from you
I’m addicted to your smile
Withdrawals and frowns are me
Knocked down and I am vile
While you’re forever free
Needing you right here
Jonesing for a dose
Panic turns to fear
Longing for your ghost

Chorus:
Drugs don’t fail me now
For she’s forever gone
Despising her strength
Against all that I’ve done wrong
Numb my aching heart
I’ll never be brand new
Finding who I am
In the high that comes from you
