BLOG TOUR: Girl Lost by Nazarea Andrews

Welcome back for our stop on the GIRL LOST Blog Tour! We've got an excerpt, Shell's review, and a fun GIVEAWAY.
Thank you to Nazarea Andrews and everyone at Inkslinger PR for our ARC and for hosting this great tour.
Happy reading!!!

Northern was supposed to be a fresh start—a place where people didn’t know who I was or how I had spent years in and out of mental institutes. People didn't know about my parents death or the island no one heard of. But when Peter sits next to me in lit class, I can’t stop the memories, and I don’t want to. He looks too much like the boy from the island, and despite my best intentions, coaxes my secrets from me.
He’s gorgeous, irresistible, a little mad, and completely lost—we are a pair of broken  cogs in a world neither of us truly fits into. He is somehow gentle and fierce, heartbreaking in his devotion and savage in his defense.
When Belle, his best friend, shows up, pale and lovely and sick, Peter pulls away from me, a startling withdrawal. It’s a relationship that scares and confuses me. She is at times warm and friendly, and other times is violent and unpredictable.
Peter says that he wants me, but refuses to let himself get close. And there are secrets, surrounding both of us, that border on nightmares. As the memories close in, as Belle gets sicker and more violent, I’m torn between what is true and what I believe, and what this magical boy knows about my mysterious past.

Nazarea Andrews is an avid reader and tends to write the stories she wants to read. She loves chocolate and coffee almost as much as she loves books, but not quite as much as she loves her kids. She lives in south Georgia with her husband, daughters, and overgrown dog.

Wow. What an brilliant retelling. I was super excited to get ahold of GIRL LOST before we even had a cover. And then the awesome cover! Holy Wow! I knew I had to read this book. So when the ARC hit our inbox, I was ecstatic. This is my first book by Nazarea Andrews, and let me tell you, I am a FAN. GIRL LOST met all of my expectations. It was thrilling, a bit disturbing, chilling, and oddly romantic.
Wendy was an intriguing and charismatic character. She captured my heart right away. Her struggles to separate reality from her fantasies, and dealing with no one believing her all these years, made it easy for me to sympathize with her. I mean, how do you handle everyone around you telling you you're crazy, that the person you love most in the world isn't real- when everything in your being says otherwise? Shouldn't you be able to believe what's right before your eyes? Every word spoken, every touch? Well, in Wendy's case you act out. And Wendy does, in some surprising and somewhat shocking ways. But hey, she is an adult- and adults have needs- right?! *clears throat* OK, back on track...
Wendy has suffered a life of embarrassment, shame, and extreme loneliness, and yet, she can't let go of that one boy, THE Boy, his world, or the events that got her institutionalized and believing she really is insane.
So, about the Boy... well, it's hard to say much about him without giving something away. He is mysterious, mischievous, and utterly charming. He blurs the lines of friend or foe, and borders on being dangerous. He creates such havoc in Wendy's carefully structured life, that she heads toward a downward spiral, ready to commit herself again and surrender to her dark fantasies of a magical place no one else can see, and of a boy no one believes exists. But is he her Boy? Or just someone who finally fits the image of her fantasy Peter?
GIRL LOST keeps you guessing. I loved that I was never sure where this story was taking me. Like Wendy, I was flying from the seat of my pants, trying to hold on, and make sense of what was happening and not getting lost in the mayhem- real and imagined. Trying to figure out other key characters agendas and intentions. And being inside Wendy's head? Holy crow, was it intense. Often times leading you to believe she was out of her flipping mind.
I had so many questions running through my head.
Is Wendy really, truly insane? Is this Peter just some guy messing with her head? Or is he her Boy. If so, why did he desert her and let her suffer so? And more importantly, why is he back? Is he back??? Or is he just a figment of a twisted, tangled, and sexually frustrated mind?
Have patience. You'll get most of the answers you seek. But buckle in, GIRL LOST is a very bumpy ride that had me completely captivated. I simply couldn't put it down.
*FAIR WARNING* It's not a story for everyone, but if you like your fairy tales twisted, you'll love this. GIRL LOST is Dark. Dirty. Delicious. And I really hope we get more.
