BLOG TOUR: Fade to Silver by Catherine Converse

Adie is forced into new territory when her dream overlaps with a complete stranger in a different part of the country, while Dannika escapes from Research, not accepting the new assets in her brain that will change the way she works forever. Despite their separation, their lives merge once again to solve a major corporate conspiracy case, where one man has already lost his life, and Adie has set interference in motion on the next victim in line. But the corporation holds something that is so special, they aren’t the only ones that are willing to kill for it.

With two young men battling for her affection, Adie struggles to keep focus on the case. Once again, Adie and Dannika become the targets, as they become identified as obstacles for those who are after the corporation’s unique discovery. Until it becomes clear that only one person has the power to stop the chain reaction that has begun. And only one question will reveal that person. Who holds the key?

Catherine Converse lives with her husband and four children in beautiful Montana. She squeaked by with a Business Degree at Carroll College, only to realize (while glancing back at transcripts years later) that the only A’s she got were in Writing and Literature classes.
She wishes there were more hours in the day (who doesn’t, right), and that her mind would just shut down sometimes.
If not writing, or researching, she would really like to be outside with her family, and preferably on her snowboard. Or just petting their horses.
Grateful for such a blessed life, she just hopes to bring stories of all kinds to life, and enjoyment to those who read them.
Catherine owns and operates Golden Dot Publishing, an independent publishing company.

Fade to Silver is fantastically written, keeping you on the edge of your seat with the suspenseful tale told through the lives of two special Visionaries, Adie and Dannika.
Full of mystery and intrigue, you eagerly turn each page dying to find out more clues and secrets to the investigation we are following.  With the Visionaries using their dreams to see future murders, an experienced team of researchers, analysts, and ops decipher the dreams to ultimately prevent these hideous crimes.

With this being book 2, I don’t want to give away too much because book 1 introduces so much to you.  The world created in this series is intricate and believable.  Capturing you with intense dialogs, action-packed scenes, and an overall desire to see a positive end to the horrendous cases they are trying to solve.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book and highly recommend…

MOST WANTED: 3/11/13

Fate and Fury
(Grey Wolves series)
by Quinn Loftis
Sally holds to a shred of hope. Though Vasile, Decebel, and their pack mates endure the torture of the In-Between, living their worst nightmares over and over, Sally holds. Though she knows that it is only a matter of time before their wolves take over, she holds. Sally knows that if the males die, then so too will their mates who have performed the Blood Rites, including her best friends Jen and Jacque.  Yet she holds. If the males lose themselves to their wolves and turn feral, so too do their mates.  Still she holds. Though Vasile, the strongest Alpha in their history to unite the wolves, is lost beyond the Veil, Sally holds.  Though Decebel, the only other wolf besides Vaile strong enough to unite the packs, suffers beyond the Veil, Sally will hold.  No one is left to unite their race, and defeat Desdemona. Yet Sally still holds.  She holds out hope that the Great Luna will not abandon them, cannot abandon them.  Throughout the centuries, the Great Luna has always provided a gypsy healer to the packs, especially in times of great need. Now Sally is that healer. Sally fears what role she has to play in the defeat of Desdemona, but she will play it.  Though heaven and hell unite against her, she WILL play it.
For too long the supernatural races have lived in separation, warring amongst themselves, allowing trivial power plays and selfish disputes to keep them from uniting. That separation has made them weak. Now, being summoned as a collective force to the same land, will they come?  Will they come in numbers greater than have been seen in centuries? Will they destroy each other and save Mona the trouble, or will they finally unite and fight as one?

Surfacing
by Nora Raleigh Baskin

A lyrical and deeply moving portrait of grief, blame, and forgiveness, and of finding the courage to confront your ghosts — one truth at a time.
As soon as she was under, Maggie heard the quiet, though every sound was amplified in her ears and in her brain . . . Sound, like shame, travels four times faster under the water.
Though only a sophomore, Maggie Paris is a star on the varsity swim team, but she also has an uncanny, almost magical ability to draw out people’s deepest truths, even when they don’t intend to share them. It’s reached a point where most of her classmates, all but her steadfast best friend, now avoid her, and she’s taken to giving herself away every chance she gets to an unavailable — and ungrateful — popular boy from the wrestling team, just to prove she still exists. Even Maggie’s parents, who are busy avoiding each other and the secret deep at the heart of their devastated family, seem wary of her. Is there such a thing as too much truth?

ELIXXIR by Deena Remiel

For Adult 18+ Readers

Welcome to the Book Blast for the release of Elixxir, Book 3 in Deena Remiel's spectacular Brethren series. In addition to a spotlight on the book and author, thanks to Deena and an advanced ecopy, we also got a review for you. We hope you enjoy it and run out (or over) and grab this HOT item for yourself. So here we go...

Callie has secrets, too many to count.

For twenty years she’s been living a lie as Callie Worthington, hiding from the monsters who brutally murdered her parents for possession of the Elixxir of Life. Unsuccessful before, their killers have found her and will stop at nothing to acquire the Elixxir. And see her dead.

Nathanael has a couple of secrets, too. A nasty one in particular blurs the line separating Good from Evil. As an immortal Brethren Warrior, though, he must retrieve the Elixxir before it falls into the wrong hands. Just how he’s going to get it out of Callie’s is the big question.

Tempers flare as Callie and Nathanael reach out to each other with their own hidden agendas. She needs his protection. He needs the Elixxir. Will their fiery passion lead to lasting love, or will their web of intrigue ultimately destroy them both?

Secrets, lies, and love’s loyalties tested. What price for immortality? What price for love?

It was the mystique of Arizona’s history and landscape that called to Deena and catapulted her career
as an author. When she’s not writing romance novels and poetry in the wee, small hours of the
morning or in the deep, dark of night, Deena teaches language arts to middle school students. She
currently lives in Gilbert with her husband and two children, but New Jersey will always tug at her
heartstrings. She loves connecting with her fans, so find her at www.deenaremiel.com.

Barnes and Noble
Deena Remiel serves up another scorching hot and hellish ride with this latest Brethren Brothers installment.
Elixxir starts off following our heroine, Callie. Having survived a horrifying tragedy twenty years earlier- her life as she knew it is over. And after enduring a just as horrifying existence in the foster care system, she's finally left the past behind. At 33 she's a take no shit kind of gal and still has a heart of gold. But her new life hasn't been a cakewalk either. She's had failed relationships, the last being with one of the Brethren, Kemuel. As far a Callie knows he is part of Brethren Security. Two months ago he dropped off the planet without a word and she's comforted herself with a string of go nowhere dates. She's decided to give up on love and swear off men. In one weak moment reminiscing, Callie finds herself on the run again and at the mercy of Brethren Security. Nathanael is charged with protecting Callie and recovering the very thing that makes her a target. And so the adventure begins...
Okay, now that I've set this all up for you, I will not be going into any more of the story itself. Instead, I'll tell you what I thought of these characters and how Callie and Nathanael's tale made me feel.
I love Callie. She's one tough chick. She's smart, sexy, funny, and full of moxy. She knows how to take care of herself. Unfortunately she's not equipped to take on her enemy alone.
To the rescue- our angel, Nathanael. Can these brothers get any hotter? Nathanael is my perfect hero; gorgeous, cunning, gorgeous, devoted, with a tortured soul and a conflicted mind, powerful and GORGEOUS. So compelling and super sexy. Working on the side as a bounty hunter, Nathanael is task oriented and a bit addicted to serving up Brethren justice. Internally he's battling Evil and Satan wants him bad. He'll stop at nothing to bring Nathanael to the darkside. In spite of his teetering on the edge this dude is so hot it should be illegal.
When these two connect sparks fly. The heat between them is palpable. They really make a great pair. We can see right away that they complete each other. Of course they're both stubborn, confused and determined to do things "their" own way. It's clear they need one another to survive but she has to learn to trust him with her heart and he needs to really let her into his soul.
With battles of wits and wills between the two and against the ultimate Evil, this ain't no Sunday drive. It's frenzied, impassioned and intense to the extreme. And HOT!
The whole crazy wild ride had me on the edge of my seat worried for Callie's safety and Nathanael's sanity- praying for them both to make it out alive and together.
Deena, being the EVIL genius she is, puts us all through the ringer. There are enough twists and turns to keep your heart pounding and your brain guessing. And just when you think it might be over and the good guys win... well, it's just never that easy when the Big Guy, E.L. is involved.
Elixxir is great addition to the Brethren series... great heroine, amazing hero, HOT romance, and totally action packed. Getting to know Nathanael better and watch him shine- the icing on the cake.

COVER REVEAL: A Tale of Two Centuries by Rachel Harris

Hey all! Shelley here! It's a most exciting day on the blog. Today we get topresent the cover for a sequel I've been VERY anxiously awaiting. Bear with meas I ramble- it will be worth your while.
Rachel Harris blew me away with her YA debut My Super Sweet SixteenthCentury *See the debut of my review below* SO... I am happy to SUPER fangirland share my giddiness over the upcoming release of the second book, A Tale ofTwo Centuries with this COVER REVEAL. Go ahead squee with me. You know you wantto. And don't you just love the title? Rachel is oh so clever. Ok, I'll giveyou a moment of silence to admire the pretty picture...

Alessandra D’Angeli is inneed of an adventure. Tired of her sixteenth-century life in Italy and homesickfor her time-traveling cousin, Cat, who visited her for a magical week anddazzled her with tales of the future, Alessandra is lost. Until the stars hearher plea.

One mystical spell later,Alessandra appears on Cat’s Beverly Hills doorstep five hundred years in thefuture. Surrounded by confusing gadgets, scary transportation, and scandalousclothing, Less is hesitant to live the life of a twenty-first centuryteen…until she meets the infuriating—and infuriatingly handsome—surfer AustinMichaels. Austin challenges everything she believes in…and introduces her to aworld filled with possibility.
With the clock ticking, Lessknows she must live every moment of her modern life while she still can. Buthow will she return to the drab life of her past when the future is what holdseverything she’s come to love?
Glaring sunlight permeates thethin veil of my eyelids. Even though it is noonday, the light is exceptionallybright, at least in comparison to the shelter of the tent. I shield my browwith a curved hand and force my protesting eyes open…then at the sight beforeme, promptly shut them again.
Sounds become crisper in thedarkness. Rumbles, shrieks, wails, and hums. Unfamiliar chirps and impossiblebeeps. Piecing together my tattered, wilting courage, I take another peek andfind nothing is as it should be.
Where my palazzo usually sitsis an enormous structure with golden doors and red columns, a metallic roof, and a massive mounted dragon. A pair of terrifying, sculpted beasts guards theentrance. The ground is no longer one of cracked stone or even the damp earthof my garden, but assorted gray blocks etched with handprints, slipper prints, and a series of strange markings.
I stare at the mysteriousshapes on the stone before me and gasp as they all at once become clear: Harry Potter, 7-9-07. Rupert Grint. DanielRadcliffe. Emma Watson.
While a few of the lettersare different than I am used to, it is as if my mind is faster than I, readilymaking sense of it all. Stooping to see the words closer, I place my hands inthe indentations below the word Emma andmarvel at the fit.
I twist my neck around, handsstill pressed into the cool hollows, wanting to share the astonishing news withReyna. But she and the tent are gone. In their place, an overwhelming crowd invarying degrees of scandalous dress swarms the square, each costume moreshocking than the last.
Exposed ankles, exposed legs,exposed stomachs…
I avert my eyes heavenward, twin flames of heat burning up my throat and into my hairline. Clutching thenote, I press my hands against my knees and prepare to stand. The rough texturebeneath my palms causes me to freeze.
A horrible, unimaginabletruth tries to be acknowledged, and I reluctantly run my hands along my thighs, hoping, praying my fingers will brush against the soft, cool silk of mysurcoat. But when they follow the curve of my lap and meet in the middle, mortification demands a glance down.
Gentleman’s trousers!
As a teen, RachelHarris threw raging parties that shook her parents’ walls and createdembarrassing fodder for future YA novels. As an adult, she reads andwrites obsessively, rehashes said embarrassing fodder, and dreams up characterswho become her own grown up version of imaginary friends.
When she's not typingfuriously or flipping pages in an enthralling romance, you can find herhomeschooling her two beautiful princesses, hanging out with her amazinghusband, or taking a hot bubble bath…next to a pile of chocolate. A Tale of TwoCenturies is her second novel.
... and now for my review of the first book AND an awesome GIVEAWAY...
***Note: I read My SuperSweet Sixteenth Century back in October. It became one of my Best Of for 2012.Unfortunately as is with life sometimes, I didn't get my review on the bloguntil NOW.***
Where do I begin? Thebeginning? How novel. Ok, here goes... My Super Sweet Sixteenth Century wasjust the type of story I was looking for after a long stream of dark andintense books.
Yes, it's true, I love the macabre, the dark and mysterious. And even the gutwrenching, crying jag inducing emotional stories, but sometimes, a girl needs abreak.
So back to our book at hand. What you don't expect from this book is the eloquence. It is so beautifullywritten that you forget you're dealing with a young teenager full of angst andinsecurities. You quickly become completely caught up in the world and thebeauty of Italy the Rachel paints so perfectly for you.
I was immediately swept awaywith our fearless heroine Cat Crawford and this fantastic, fun and thrillingadventure. Talk about living vicariously.
There is so much to lovehere. From the descriptions of the landscapes and architecture, the artists, the history, the story within the story- so much is  unexpected andcharming. And as much as the atmosphere grabs you, the characters absolutelysteal the scene(s). I can't say enough about them without giving too much away,so I'll just hint at their fabulousness... First, the swoon-worthy Lorenzo. Ohhe is a surprising one. I just loved him. And I ADORED Alessandra. She and hebrother, Cipriano were delightful and captured my heart right away. I soenjoyed their banter. And don't get me started on the "creeptastic"Niccoli. The dialogue throughout is brilliant. Rachel has that perfect blend ofintelligence, sarcasm, and playfulness.
Spanning continents andgenerations- you learn a bit about Cat's family history as well- My Super SweetSixteenth Century was fascinating, fresh and so much fun. Looking for a greatgetaway? Want to travel to Italy but just can't afford it? Rachel Harris takesyou there in a most unique and enchanting way.
I wasn't certain when or ifthe story would continue, so I'm thrilled to see that it is- and beyond elatedto be a part of the reveal for the second book.

So what do you think? Are youready to take the leap with me and Cat? A Tale of Two Centuries promises to beanother epic roller coaster ride of romance and suspense- a bit of mystery andmaybe more history? I can hardly contain my enthusiasm. How about you?

BLOG TOUR: Dazzle by Amber Garza

Welcome to our stop on the Dazzle blog tour. We want to say thank you to author Amber Garcia and Megan at Reading Away the Days for having us along.
We're spotlighting the book as well as offering a review. So here we go...
Sixteen-year-old Delaney Scott possesses a special gift. Ever since she was a child she has known about her calling and the duty she’s expected to fulfill.
However, all Delaney wants is to be normal. That’s why she is drawn to Sam. He can offer her the life she’s always desired. Only Sam has secrets of his own.
Secrets that are deadly. Secrets that can change everything.

Amber Garza has had a passion for writing since she was a little girl, making books out of notebook paper and staples. As an adult she's worked hard to make her dream of being published a reality. She writes while listening to music (mostly the Civil Wars), and drinking lots of coffee. Amber lives in California with her amazing husband, and two hilarious children who provide her with enough material to keep her writing for years.

Dazzle has all the aspects I look for in a YA paranormal story; action, supernatural powers, and romance. What is different about this tale is how the world is developed.
Delaney and Micah live in a close knit community in Edenly lead by a mysterious man named Zerach, who has a firm set of rules that must be upheld in order to keep the most sacred of secrets. While the history of Edenly is well known and celebrated, Delaney, Micah, and those like them are sheltered and fiercely protected.
So the story begins with Delaney's parents and how Delaney came to be. Fast forward seventeen years and we meet Delaney and Micah as high schoolers, in the midst of a rescue. What happens after may change their loves forever.
I don't want to give away too much but what does need to be said is that Delaney and Micah have been best friends since they were toddlers, in fact their mothers were pregnant together and formed an unbreakable bond. The two teenagers each have their gifts. Micah relishes his and Delaney wants nothing more than to be a normal girl. But because of their powers they stick together and have no other friends. Enter Sam- a gorgeous, popular boy, who despite knowing the pair most of their lives, despises them for what he believes is hero worship from his dad and others in town. Fueled by rage and jealousy, he vows to get back at Delaney for "stealing" his father's praise and adoration.
In Delaney's quest to find her own way and choose who she falls in love with she can't deny her attraction to Sam. Micah develops his own obsession (you'll have to discover this one on your own), and here's where it really gets interesting...
Told from the POV of Delaney, Micah AND Sam we get a unique look into a world steeped in legend and expectations- where one small slip can endanger them all, and mistakes, more secrets, and betrayals might shatter their beliefs, permanently damage friendships, and destroy the world as they know it.
I found this premise fascinating. What a tangled web and fiery triangle. And it gets more complicated and much more involved.
The world Amber created was intriguing and I wanted to learn more about the histories and what Delaney and Micah were gifted for. BUT something was missing for me. I liked the characters but I wasn't caught up in them. I didn't really connect with Delaney. I understood her longing to fit in and be normal, but I wasn't truly engaged with her. Micah was the stronger and more reasonable of the two. He was also the most realistic. I don't know what it was they were lacking, but the one that interested me the most was Sam. He's hellbent on exposing the other two. He wants nothing more than to ruin them both. And then something shifts. He's conflicted and subsequently tortured throughout the remainder of the story.
So Sam keeps the story interesting and the motives moving along, but he's not the only thing that threatens Delaney and Micah's world. Someone new has put a wedge between the inseparable pair. Can they trust this person? Is she what she seems or is she keeping her own secrets?
Dazzle is a slow progression but always in a forward motion. It raises questions into these characters all along the way. Building emotions and tension to the very end where Amber leaves us hanging by a thread and hoping for the best. It's a helluva cliffhanger and one that left me curious and invested enough to want to find out what happens next. So yes, I'll be picking up the second book so that I can follow the chase.
This series has a lot of promise and I look forward to watching the characters grow and come into their own- if they all survive...

MOST WANTED: 3/4/13

 Dear Cassie
by Lisa Burstein

What if the last place you should fall in love is the first place that you do?
You’d think getting sent to Turning Pines Wilderness Camp for a month-long rehabilitation “retreat” and being forced to re-live it in this journal would be the worst thing that’s ever happened to me.

You’d be wrong.

There’s the reason I was sent to Turning Pines in the first place: I got arrested. On prom night. With my two best friends, who I haven’t talked to since and probably never will again. And then there’s the real reason I was sent here. The thing I can’t talk about with the guy I can’t even think about.
What if the moment you’ve closed yourself off is the moment you start to break open?
But there’s this guy here. Ben. And the more I swear he won’t—he can’t—the deeper under my skin he’s getting. After the thing that happened, I promised I’d never fall for another boy’s lies.

And yet I can’t help but wonder…what if?

Seventeen-year-old Audra is a sylph, an air elemental. She walks on the wind, can translate its alluring songs, and can even coax it into a weapon with a simple string of commands. She’s also a guardian—Vane’s guardian—and has sworn an oath to protect Vane at all costs. Even if it means sacrificing her own life.
When a hasty mistake reveals their location to the enemy who murdered both of their families, Audra’s forced to help Vane remember who he is. He has a power to claim—the secret language of the West Wind, which only he can understand. But unlocking his heritage will also unlock the memory Audra needs him to forget.
