So excited to be on this tour...Thank you so much to Book Nerds Across America for hosting and to Amity Hope for writing such a fabulous book!
Maya Anderson has faced more than her share of tragedy and heartbreak. For the past six years she’s constantly been on the move with her mom. When another disaster strikes, she finds herself back in her childhood hometown of Beaumont, living with her older sister for her senior year.
A chance meeting reacquaints her with Ben McCaffey, a long-forgotten classmate from her past. After the death of his girlfriend, Ben has become a social outcast. He’s despised by some and feared by most.
Determined to become Ben’s friend, Maya begins to break through his layers of emotional protection. It isn’t long before they realize that they both have secrets in their pasts. As the line between dealing with grief and struggling with a desire for revenge begins to fade, the secrets that draw them together may be what will ultimately tear them apart. Because the closer Maya gets to Ben, the more dangerous her situation becomes.

I live in Minnesota with my two sons, two cats and our Rottweiler named Daisy.I have been a book-addict my entire life. I have always enjoyed reading and writing stories just for fun. In 2012 I decided to try self-publishing. To my delight and dismay, my debut novel took off. Since then, I have been fortunate enough to write full-time.
If I'm not writing or spending time with my kids, I'm most likely reading.
WOW!!! What a roller coaster ride Twisted is. You know by reading the synopsis there is going to be some drama, so you get all tucked in to your seat, fasten your seatbelt and get ready for an emotional, dark, suspenseful tale that will leave you gasping for air from this maniacal ride.
I completely fell in to this book. You are immediately drawn to Maya. She is the type of heroine you love to read about. Yes, she has her own problems, but she is fierce and strong all the while broadcasting this huge heart of gold. So, as she came back to her hometown of Beaumont, she is dealing with some serious baggage. Getting caught up with old friends that knew her before everything just didn't sound appealing...but, during her time out of the house before school started she had a chance encounter with a boy that seemed to know her, yet she couldn't remember him.
When he left his library book behind, she knew she had to get it to him. So, she went to the library to see if she could find him and also discover who is was.
Who was the mysterious hero? None other than the town pariah. Ben was shunned from nearly every single person in Beaumont and here is the interesting part....YOU WILL HAVE TO READ TO FIND OUT WHY!!!
But, I will say this...the qualities that I mentioned that I love about Maya....yeah, they really shine through in his case. Instead of going with the flow of everyone else, she became his friend. I admire her, I adored how she stood up for what was right. And to see two people grow and bond like Maya and Ben do truly captivated me throughout the entire book.
But, as the title of this book is called Twisted, it is not just a love story. Events begin to unfold and wicked games are played to ultimately hurt and destroy these new found friends. Watching these scenes, it fills you with agony, knotting your stomach with worry and anticipation as to who would want to cause this much pain and grief. And when you discover the revelation, along with the actions of this person, I sit back and wonder why? I know it is explained some in the book, but mentally and rationally I am thinking, why?? Maybe that is my answer...this person isn't rational.
So, as I finished Twisted, I was so excited to know that there will be another book showcasing two of the other friends that we got to know on this journey.
I highly recommend this book. It is brilliantly written, allowing you to feel everything as you ride the Twisted roller coaster, filled with jaw dropping twists and turns, nail biting drops, and a thrilling end that leaves you exhilarated.
