Meet the UTOPIA 2016 Bloggers + GIVEAWAY

Hi everyone!!! UTOPIACon will be upon us before we know it and as one of the official bloggers, we thought it would be great for your guys to get to know each of us..
PLUS...I have a GIVEAWAY for ONE Titanium tciket package...So make sure you scroll down and enter!!

What you do for work outside of blogging?
Well, in my everyday life I am a Spanish teacher for a middle school in Alabama. I have been teaching for 15 years and it has been one of the most rewarding experiences.
I am also married and have a beautiful daughter.
Besides reading...I love photography, spending time with my family and friends, watching movies or my favorite TV shows.

What you do besides blogging in the literary world (editing, book reviewing, etc…)?
Besides blogging, I do reviews and I beta read at times...

What’s the one thing you feel you’ve gained by doing the above?
Being in this community and being able to review or beta read has allowed me to make some amazing friends.  It has also strengthened me as a reader in my opinion.

How did you find Utopia?
I found Utopia through some of my favorite authors.  I was watching them attend the very first one and man, I wanted to go so bad.  So, the very next year, I made sure I was there.

What did you learn or gain at Utopia that you don’t feel you would’ve gotten anywhere else?
When I first attended Utopia, I found a camaraderie among authors and readers that I haven't really seen at other Cons.  Not to say that it isn't there at others, it's just that it felt like a family...

What’s one thing you’d like to see folks in the literary world do (together or separately)?
I would love to see people get over their bias and bullying.  Aren't we all just readers who want to fall in love with a book and to just escape in to the world that was created in it's pages??  Why do we have to put down what someone else is reading just because it may be something we disagree with or wouldn't read?

How do you feel you contribute to the writer world at large?
I think I contribute to the writer world by giving feedback on the books that I have read. Letting authors know what I love and what I may not have liked as much.

What’s your ultimate blogging goal?

For me...blogging allows me a way to express and show my admiration for the books that I love.  My ultimate goal really is to just be able to continue doing that...

RELEASE DAY BLAST: Lux by Courtney Cole

The dramatic series finale to Courtney Cole's

bestselling Nocte trilogy!

My name is Calla Price and I’m broken.

My pieces are all around me, floating on the wind, even as I desperately try to grasp them.

Who is dead? Alive? Insane?

What is the truth?

I don’t know.

I do know this: The darkness is strangling me. With every breath, I choke on another lie.

My mind has protected me, but that shield will soon be lowered.

All will be revealed.
Every answer to every question.

It’s all been leading to this.

Don’t be afraid.
Be terrified.

Series reading order: Nocte (#1), Verum (#2), Initium (#2.5), Lux (#3).

Courtney was born and raised in Kansas, home of incredibly friendly people and the most horrendous weather on the planet. Because summer days were so hot, she grew up reading stacks of books... and when she didn't like the ending, she wrote her own.

Courtney has relocated to Florida where she writes beneath palm trees. To learn more about her, please visit her website. To sign up for her newsletter and receive exclusive sneak peeks and super-fan perks, click here.

Well...well...Gah...Boy did this book...SERIES truly mess with my mind.  Even as I sit here trying to write this review I cannot wrap my mind around enough to give you insight...
But, that would be spoilery anyway and I will not do that.
You HAVE to experience this twisted tale for yourself.  From start to finish, it will make you question everything.
And when we get to Lux, I was seriously thinking I would get some clarity AND I do, but gah it was a rough and tumultuous ride to get there.
Courtney Cole definitely took the dark and deviant with this series and seriously, I feel like I need to have my head examined as I come through on the other side of this story.
There are so many details that if you try to fly by, you will miss them.  Key things to help you come to that resolution we are so desiring.
I really can't go too deep in to this review just because it would reveal too much...
BUT...let me say this..This series challenges your sanity and pushes you to truly THINK about what you are reading.  No matter how many times I would try to guess the outcome, I would so royally be wrong...
I loved that about this..I loved how I was so deeply involved with a story yet at the same time had no idea what was truly happening...
Brilliantly written with a story that is epically genius...

REIGN OF SHADOWS by Sophie Jordan

Seventeen years ago, an eclipse cloaked the kingdom of Relhok in perpetual darkness. In the chaos, an evil chancellor murdered the king and queen and seized their throne. Luna, Relhok’s lost princess, has been hiding in a tower ever since. Luna’s survival depends on the world believing she is dead.

But that doesn’t stop Luna from wanting more. When she meets Fowler, a mysterious archer braving the woods outside her tower, Luna is drawn to him despite the risk. When the tower is attacked, Luna and Fowler escape together. But this world of darkness is more treacherous than Luna ever realized.

With every threat stacked against them, Luna and Fowler find solace in each other. But with secrets still unspoken between them, falling in love might be their most dangerous journey yet.

With lush writing and a star–crossed romance, Reign of Shadows is Sophie Jordan at her best...

Sophie Jordan grew up in the Texas hill country where she wove fantasies of dragons, warriors, and princesses. A former high school English teacher, she’s the New York Times, USA Today and international bestselling author of more than twenty novels. She now lives in Houston with her family. When she’s not writing, she spends her time overloading on caffeine (lattes preferred), talking plotlines with anyone who will listen (including her kids), and cramming her DVR with anything that has a happily ever after. WOW!!!! Just WOW!!!
I seriously had no idea how this story was going to go and I LOVE that...I love not being able to predict exactly what is going to happen...Albeit there are a few things that you can guess but overall, I was hanging on to every word, dying to find out just what was going to happen next...
Sophie Jordan created such mythical and dark world all the while allowing such complex characters provide us with a light that outshines the darkness.
There are so many intricacies woven together to design a stunning, action-packed tale that captures you from the very beginning.
As each page brought new and exciting scenes, I was holding my breath as to see where the relationship Luna and Fowler would go.  I loved how we were able to get both POV's because being in each of their heads was exactly what I needed.  Getting to know Fowler besides the hard exterior he tried to portray was pivotal in rooting for him.  Not to say he is not likable, but when you are reading of Luna's POV, you see him differently.  You get mad at him for doing some things and how he treats Luna...BUT...when you read from his POV, that all changes.  You gain an understanding...
I truly admire him for all he has done and man...has he had a hard life...Meeting Luna and the journey they are on absolutely changes him and I was so excited to see it...
Now Luna...When we start our story we are focused on her...and all in all, this story is about her.
Boy is she someone to look up to.  You know as I said Fowler had a harsh past, well hers is a sad one and when a certain element in the room secret is revealed, let me just say brings the dark aspect to a while new level in this book...But you are going to have to find that out for yourself..
Ahhhh...this book...
Just typing this out with knowing how the last 15% ended...GAH...I am dying!!!
Major surprises and reveals happen and then...THEN...yes...we get a cliffhanger...

I about fell out knowing this information and then BAM...I have to wait until book 2 to see what happens next...KILLING ME!!!
Really guys though...FANTASTICAL start to a new series by the fabulous Sophie Jordan...

Make sure you head to Sophie Jordan's website and get in on her pre-order giveaway...

Surviving Ice - RWB banner

Surviving Ice - Cover

Amazon ** Barnes and Noble ** iBooks ** Kobo ** IndieBound

SURVIVING ICE Synopsis: The USA TODAY bestselling author of the Ten Tiny Breaths series and Burying Water—which Kirkus Reviews called “a sexy, romantic, gangster-tinged page-turner”—returns with a new novel packed with romance, plot twists, and psychological suspense.
Ivy Lee, a talented tattoo artist who spent the early part of her twenties on the move, is looking for a place to call home. She thinks she might have finally found it working in her uncle’s tattoo shop in San Francisco. But all that changes when a robbery turns deadly, compelling her to pack up her things yet again.
When they need the best, they call him. That’s why Sebastian Riker is back in California, cleaning up the mess made after a tattoo shop owner with a penchant for blackmail got himself shot. But it’s impossible to get the answers he needs from a dead body, leaving him to look elsewhere. Namely, to the twenty-something-year-old niece who believes this was a random attack. Who needs to keep believing that until Sebastian finds what he’s searching for.
Ivy has one foot out of San Francisco when a chance encounter with a stranger stalls her departure. She’s always been drawn to intense men, so it’s no wonder that she now finds a reason to stay after all, quickly intoxicated by his dark smile, his intimidating strength, and his quiet control.
That is, until Ivy discovers that their encounter was no accident—and that their attraction could be her undoing.

It’s just a regular ringtone. For me, though, it’s the wail of a war siren, and I’m immediately alert. There is only one person who has this number, and I didn’t expect him to use it again so soon.
The tile is cool against my bare feet as I roll out of bed. I collect the phone from the nightstand with one fluid movement, unhindered by sheets or the morning sluggishness that an average person might face. Stepping through the propped-open patio doors and onto the balcony, I answer with a low, curt “Yeah.” The sky is just beginning to lighten over the quiet bay. Dozens of boats sit moored below, their passengers lulled into deep sleep by the ocean air and rhythmic waves. I’m high enough up that I’m not likely to offend anyone with my lack of clothing, especially at this hour. Not that I’m truly concerned by it.
The code name is a sharp contrast to the warm breeze skating across my bare skin. My adrenaline begins to spike, all the same. Hearing it means that I will be forced to leave this haven soon. Sooner than I had hoped.
“How is recovery going?”
I instinctively peer down at the angry red scar on the outside of my thigh, where a bullet drilled into my flesh and muscle just three weeks ago, outside of Kabul. I nearly bled out before I made it to the doc. He patched me up on a makeshift operating table, buried deep in a maze of rooms, and charged me a hefty price.
“Like new,” I lie.
“Good.” Bentley’s voice is rich and smooth, a welcome sound in a sea of strangers. “Where are you now?”
I peer out over the beautiful vista of crystal blue water and whitewashed stone buildings, the volcanic rock cliffs in the distance, reluctant to divulge my location. I sank a good chunk of my last payout on renting this one-bedroom villa for the month. It’s my private sanctuary, where I can revel in anonymity and peace for a while, before finding somewhere else to drift to.
Bentley has never asked before.
But he also has the technical capabilities to trace this call. If he really wants to find out, then he will. In fact, the second I picked up, he probably already had his answer. “Where do I need to be?” I say instead.
“San Francisco.”

Welcome to our stop on the BAD TO THE BONE Blog Tour. We're super excited for this release and can't wait any longer to share it with you. Check out Shell's review and don't miss the AWESOME GIVEAWAY...

Bad to the Bone Synopsis:
When her Uncle Jack is arrested on drug charges, Sammie Murphy hops the first plane to Key West. Being rescued isn’t on her uncle’s to-do list, though. When he admits guilt and instructs her to go home, Sammie knows with 100% certainty something is seriously wrong.
Veteran DEA agent Enrique Santos knows when a bust is solid. So why is he allowing Jack Murphy’s niece to mess with his head? He’s been set-up and nearly killed by a woman like her before, and he’s not about to make that mistake again.
But then things at Murphy’s bar take a turn for the dangerous, leaving Sammie entangled in Enrique’s dark past. Forced to second-guess his convictions, Enrique has no choice but to kidnap the one woman who could destroy everything...including his heart.

Wendy Byrne Bio:
Wendy lives in the Chicago area. She has a Masters in Social Work and worked in the child welfare field for twelve years before she decided to pursue her dream of writing.
Between teaching college classes, trying to get her morbidly obese cat to slim down and tempering the will of her five-year-old granddaughter, who's determined to become a witch when she turns six so she can fly on her broom to see the Eiffel Tower and put hexes on people--not necessarily in that order--somehow Wendy still manages to fit in writing. She spends the remainder of her days inflicting mayhem on her hero and heroine until they beg for mercy.
She has written three books in the Hard Targets trilogy, Hard to Kill, Hard to Trust and Hard to Stop. In addition, she has two books through Entangled Publishing, The Millionaire’s Deception, and Bad to the Bone, two self-published books, The Christmas Curse and Accused, and two interracial romances, Fractured and Mama Said.

The immediate fireworks between Sammie and Enrique made BAD TO THE BONE a real page turner. They both drew me in and I wanted to know all about them. I got my wish and a whole lot of mischief, mayhem, and hot, HOT passion.

The pace moves rather quickly but suits the story well. You don't feel rushed but you are thrown into the madness that overnight has changed Sammie's world and rocked her foundation. It doesn't take long for the mysterious and charming Enrique to work his way in and knock her further off her axis. *Just you wait*

With both questioning the other's integrity and feeling the pull, they play a tricky game of cat and mouse not knowing who's the crook or who to trust. It's dangerous in more ways than either is prepared for.

The intensity rapidly escalates as threats and feelings get the two further entangled and confused until things take a huge turn for the worst and they are forced to do whatever it takes to prove both their innocence, save Jack and the bar, and get the bad guys. All without ending up in prison or dead.

The odds are definitely staked against them. Danger is at every turn. And the farther they fall, the more they fear they don't know each other at all. Yet that urge, that desire, that pull towards one another cannot be denied.

Is it all part of the game? Will their passion be their undoing? Will they survive what appears to be an elaborate setup? Or is it all a lie...

I really enjoyed the characters and the twisted journey Wendy takes us on. The plot was well thought out. Each person we meet was either manipulated or an intricate part of the plan and it was exciting trying to figure out just what part each really played- voluntarily or otherwise. The ending was not exactly what I expected but it wasn't disappointing. Overall BAD TO THE BONE was satisfying and one heck of ride.
