Woohoo! It's our stop on the Keystone blog tour and we're very excited to have author Misty Provencher drop by for a little q&a. We threw a bit of This or That at the uber smart and funny author.
We're sure you'll be cracking up right long with us...
And here we go! Hit it Misty:
Hi Kathryn and Shelley!! I am so excited to be over here at TSK TSK
What to Read for the Keystone Tour.
Thanks so much for having me and let me mention first- you guys know I’m
a horrible fence sitter, right? I love a
little bit of everything, but I’ll try to make up my mind!
Wrangler butts (make me nuts) or Button fly on my
guy? You’re kidding right?
This one is so stunningly clear to me, absolutely no fence sitting on
your first question! Button fly, my
babies. Yah ha ha.
Baked or fried?
Oh my gosh- two that I actually have a solid opinion on! Oh, you girls are good. Baked.
Always baked. At least that’s my
politically correct answer to the potato chip conundrum. Behind closed doors, however…well, that’s
another sordid story.
Mac or PC? I love how easy the
Mac is to use, but I adore the keys of a PC.
I’ve got a sensory thing and I love the sound and feel of my PC
keys. I know. Weird.
Glorious mane or buzz cut? Have you met Garrett of the Glorious Maned
Garretts? Ooo la la mane. However, I’ve met some buzz cuts that I
wouldn’t mind not running my fingers through.
Heart breaker or Heart taker? You girls are going sooo easy on me, aren’t you. It’s because I whined, I think. I’m usually into the takers, but I’ve been
known to write a breaker too. My
upcoming stand-alone has a heart breaker.
Sexy jerk...I love to hate him.
Shaken or stirred?
(raises hand) Allergic to alcohol. However, if you mean heroines, then I prefer
them shaken up and if you mean my Dunkin Donuts French Vanilla coffee, then it
should be lovingly stirred. Wait. Do you mean men’s loins? Okay, on this one I’m definite: never shaken. Makes ‘em crazy.
Plane or train? I take Neither
for $200, Tsk. It’s not like I’d go
Rain Man or anything…I’ll do either if necessary…but prefer my Home Sweet
Car.
Sweet and shy or Wild and crazy? Who me?
(blushes) Shaken and
stirred. The only one I can’t do up
there is shy. But enough DD French
Vanilla and I’ve been known to get pretty sweet.
Mountains or the beach? Campground? I’m not a mountain girl and have to be in the
mood for hanging out at the beach…but a campground…ohhhhhh…I can sit in the sun
and plug in my computer and write with all kinds of racket around me that isn’t
calling my name directly? Heaven.
A little Rock n Roll or Pure Country? Both + everything else. Give me a story in my music and I’m there.
Cake or pie?
CAKE. There really isn’t
another answer here, is there? That’s
like asking Cake or Rutabega. Cake. Always cake.
OMG, yes, cake.
A fun night out or cozy night in? Does it include French Vanilla coffee and lots
of blah blah? Then, yes.
Early bird or night owl? Bird, to the Rooster tune. Usually.
But, when I was writing Cornerstone, I did it almost all between 8-11 at
night. For me, that’s way Owly.
Scary movies or romantic comedies? Oh, my girls…I love the romantic, love the
laughing. Romance me with laughter,
please.
We had a lot of fun with our This or That with
Misty, but we wanted to learn a little more about her. So, we fired a few more
questions at her and this is what she revealed...
What is the cheesiest pick up line ever used on
you? Oh, I’m not that girl. I was
the one who fired the lines and chased the boys. I don’t know that I had cheesy lines- they
always seemed to work!
What one food will you not share with anyone? Oh, dang it.
There’s all kinds of stuff I try not to share, but when you live in a
monkey exhibit like I do, nothing’s sacred.
However, I found out that I don’t have to hide my Good & Plenty
candy. Eureka!
The last line of your autobiography would be? You should know me…I’d love you like mad.
Do you have any hidden talents? Cheeky girls…of course I’ll tell you…I know how to
ride a motorcycle, I know how to get toddlers to say please and I know enough
sign language to get us both slapped.
That’s a few of the things I keep around for a rainy day.
You wouldn't be caught dead _______? God, I really hope I’m never caught dead. I really hope to be caught alive and tickled (not
so that I die laughing or anything) and then fed Good & Plenty candy and mugs of French
Vanilla. Wait. Was this a what’s your fantasy question?
These really were the most fun ever and you two made it incredibly
easy on me! Thanks so much for doing
that and for having me blah blah all over your blog. If you are ever in my redneck of the woods,
come by for some French Vanilla!!
Oh, my! Misty had us
rolling and snorting so much we couldn't even respond. She's a ton of fun-
definitely our kinda girl! And we hope you enjoyed getting to know a little
more about her. We sure did!
On to the fabulous books by Misty....
Cornerstone
(book 1 of The Cornerstone Series)
Keystone
(book 2 of the Cornerstone Series)
There’s a man-made storm coming, like a rip in the world, and it’s called the Cusp.
Struggling to fit into the destiny she’s accepted, Nalena Maxwell has been left with one objective: she must find her murdered grandfather’s Memory. Stolen and hidden away by her own father over seventeen years ago, the Memory could be the key to ending the Cusp and destroying the Ianua’s rival community, The Fury.
Driven by each individual’s selfish desires, The Fury has always lacked the loyalty and organization it needs to be an actual force of power.
Until now.
Someone masterminded the Fury’s massive attack on the Ianua, slaughtering twelve of their thirteen community leaders, the Addos. Now there are rumors that the 13th Cura, to which Nali belongs, has gone to the Fury, manipulating the last Addo in order to control the other 12 Curas.
As the Cusp brings the Fury and their own communities against them, Nalena’s Cura must preserve the Ianua, but finding the key to the Cusp isn’t as simple as it seems.

So now you should've read our spotlight and reviews of the fascinating Keystone...
Kathryn's Review
OH WOW!! I am totally captivated by this book and let me
say...
I read Cornerstone (book 1) and Keystone (book 2) back to
back and the world that Misty has created here is phenomenal... Unique,
explosive, mesmerizing, enthralling... The list could just go on and on with
how taken I am with this book.
I also need to say that I am so thankful for being on
this tour and getting a chance to know
Misty and read her magnificent books...
So, what am I bragging about?
Well, these books bring you in to a world that has such a
new, refreshing, unique storyline. I was
immediately locked in to my seat and As i began that upward climb to travel on
this thrilling journey of twists and turns, moments of heart wrenching, stomach
aching scenes, over the top giddiness and just an overall exhilarating ride i
knew that as it ended that i immediately wanted to rush and get back on....
Meeting Nalena from Cornerstone and watching her journey
through her struggles and come in to her own brought on such pride for her from
me. She is someone that everyone can connect with in some form or fashion. The love she has for her mom, the
embarrassment she feels because of her mom, and overcoming all of this to
realize her greatest assets in life. She
is dealt a hand that as a teenager she has to grow up fast and not let life
take you down. Nalena is also surrounded
by some great people on her journey and
they are no small characters either. The
Reese family is such a supportive group and how they have taken her under their
wing to guide and protect is heart warming... But the person that stands out the
most is Garrett... WHAT A MAN!! As each page turned, I fell more and more for
him. He exhibits such wisdom And
compassion all the while being such a solid rock of foundation for Nalena. In Keystone he really amps up his feelings
for her and when he tells her how her Re-Impressioning went for him... I
melted!!!
Needless to say, I loved these books!! Filled with
action, suspense, unique world building, and some phenomenal characters...
These are books you need to run out and buy TODAY!!
HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!
Shelley's ReviewI was so impressed with Misty's world building in Cornerstone. It was intricate and unique. Nali was such an interesting and different character, and yet she was familiar and easy to relate to. Her narrative was clever, and her dialogue quick witted, if not a bit snarky. We were one, she and I. And we were off and running...If you read Cornerstone, you know it was an action packed, whirlwind of emotion. The world is changing and Nali is just learning about herself and her real life's calling. So much takes place and we're left hanging by a thread wondering how she and Garrett will make things work...can they survive the tragedies they've had to endure, protect Mankind, the existence of the Ianua and finally be together? Is that what Nalena really wants?
Having gone through what she has, discovering so much about herself and her family's past and seeing how the people in her world can so suddenly change, she finds she's not sure she's ready to make a lifetime commitment to someone she's known for such a short time.
She's having trouble understanding all she's become and is becoming more unsure of who she can trust.
So this is where we stand at the beginning of Keystone. Right where we left off.
We jump right back in to the heartache and confused feelings. And Nalena is not the only one hurting. The Reese's have put everything on the line and as a result have suffered a great loss as well. Their world is complete chaos. What can a poor teenage girl, left out of the loop all these years possible do? Jump in, hang on for dear life and pray you get it right.
It's all a bit overwhelming- and exciting...but that's just what Nalena does. She jumps in head (and heart), first.
Keystone is one of those stories, where so much has already happened, you can't imagine what else the author could possibly put her characters though. They've endured pain and loss of epic proportions, faced absolute fear and ventured in to the unknown. Well, let me tell you, Misty was just getting started. And that's a good thing for us. We get to journey with some wonderful characters that never give up, even when they doubt themselves and what's in front of them. Always find something good to cling to. And vow that yes, against all odds and enemies, they are indeed meant to be.
This book was an insane roller coaster. At times I didn't know what was up or down. The commotion within the Ianua world was unraveling everything. While Nali was attempting to embrace her "new life" everything in that life was changing. Life, as Garrett, the Reese's and the rest of the Cura know it was forever altering.
I did mention CHAOS???
Of course there are tender moments between our lovebirds, but the majority of the time, these two are doing their best to survive and find the Key to restoring order to the world. Not just their communities, the entire world, for they in essence keep the balance.
I can't possibly say more without giving something away, but I will say, I love Nalena and Garrett. Together and separate. They are amazing characters. Both strong and courageous...willing to sacrifice themselves amidst their doubts, for the greater good. Granted that is how Garrett was raised, but Nali steps up and follows her heart and her instincts, and shows everyone what she's really made of. That in itself, is a great story. Their love for each other is a great story. Garrett is a most swoon worthy hero that gets more enchanting by the moment.
Keystone is just as compelling, complex, frightening and romantic as the first book, and yet is still fresh and exciting. You never know what's coming next or even who they're really fighting against. I didn't know what to expect until the very end.
Intense. Enthralling. Keystone marks this as a must read series.
We both give Keystone:
