Angelle Prejean is in a pickle. Her family is expecting her to come home with a fiancé—a fiancé who doesn’t exist. Well, he exists, but he definitely has no idea Angelle told her mama they were engaged. Tattooed, muscled, and hotter than sin, Cane can reduce Angelle to a hot mess with one look—and leave her heart a mess if she falls for him. But when she ends up winning Cane at a charity bachelor auction, she knows just how to solve her fiancé problem.

Cane Robicheaux is no one’s prince. He doesn’t do relationships and he doesn’t fall in love. When sweet, sultry-voiced Angelle propositions him, he hopes their little game can finally get her out of his head. He doesn’t expect her to break through all his barriers. But even as Angelle burrows deeper into his heart, he knows once their seven days are up, so is their ruse.

Rachel Harris grew up in New Orleans, where she watched soap operas with her grandmother and stayed up late sneak reading her mama’s favorite romance novels. Now a Cajun cowgirl living in Houston, she still stays up way too late reading her favorite romances, only now, she can do so openly. She firmly believes life’s problems can be solved with a hot, powdered-sugar-coated beignet or a thick slice of king cake, and that screaming at strangers for cheap, plastic beads is acceptable behavior in certain situations.
When not typing furiously or flipping pages in an enthralling romance, she homeschools her two beautiful girls and watches reality television with her amazing husband. Taste The Heat is her adult romance debut. She’s the author of MY SUPER SWEET SIXTEENTH CENTURY and A TALE OF TWO CENTURIES. She loves hearing from readers! Find her at www.RachelHarrisWrites.com.

What a fun and saucy read. We got a small glimpse of the mighty and SUPER sexy Cane Robicheaux and his beguiling, yet insecure flame, Angelle Prejean in TASTE the HEAT. Fans (me included) couldn't get enough of the elusive hunk, and we begged Rachel for MORE. She kindly obliged and the swooning continued. In an instant I fell for both of these characters. While Cane was charismatic, bold, and confident, Angelle was mild, meek, and charmingly clumsy. We all know what they say when opposites attract...
Wow. What an explosion with these two. Never in a million years did Angelle expect Cane to agree to her ruse, but Cane can't resist a chance to pay her back for saving his hide in a... well, you'll have to read the story to see how that all transpires. I know, I'm EVIL, but the opening scenes are priceless, and I just can't stand to spoil them for you. Needless to say, neither is really prepared for what happens when they head to Angelle's hometown of Bon Terre in an effort to convince Angelle's family and friends that she's moved on from her ex Brady and doing just fine in Magnolia Springs- with a new man.
Why is this such a big deal? What does Angelle have to prove? Well, Bon Terre is a very small town... With nosy neighbors, high expectations and built on tradition. If that weren't enough pressure, Angelle has two overprotective brothers and the mayor is her father. It's all about keeping appearances and making everybody else happy.
Angelle has spent her whole existence chasing everyone else's dreams and ideas for her life. After her brave mutiny- a move that shocked the whole town, she made her way to Magnolia Springs for a brand new life full of opportunities and no one to tell her what to do or place expectations on her. She's made a couple of mistakes but she's found her niche and wonderful new friends in Cane's sisters, Colby and Sherry. Sherry is (by her own admission) the town matchmaker and is determined from the beginning to see Angelle and Cane make a go of it. She and Colby think Angelle is just what Cane needs to make his life complete. Cane is not against love per se, but after his family was torn apart years ago, he's vowed to never fall and subsequently hurt another. Especially not Angelle. Angelle is not ready to throw herself into another relationship so soon. Besides, Cane has quite a reputation as a ladies’ man and heartbreaker. So the walls are erected and the hearts are protected.
Well, Angelle needs a little help from Cane and surprisingly Cane obliges. What began as sparks and obvious attraction between them becomes a need to be convincing to Angelle's town- and a struggle to remember what is acting and what is real. Ah-ha! Oh yes! The pull between these two broken hearts is intense. But their pasts, insecurities- and ridiculous beliefs, keep them from truly acting on their growing feelings. Of course that means more inner struggles, miscommunication, a few hurt feelings, and one big mess. Is there any way to remedy the situation and finally get them to recognize what they've got? You've got to ride out quite a storm to find out.
I've loved the interaction between our hero and heroine. Not for a moment did I believe their yearnings didn't go beyond lust and immediate need. I wanted them together. Forever. So watching them act and simultaneously fight their instincts and inner monologues was at times torturous, and at times hilarious. When those two feelings blended it was pure gold. Their mental tug of war was delightful and incredibly stressful. The uncertainty of the other's true feelings. Wondering if what you want now is meant to be or meant to last. Denying your worth and ability to love. Knowing you can't give the other person what they really want and deserve... Oh, come ON, Cane! OK. I actually shouted out to both of them several times... Can't you see it's REAL? Don't push (insert whichever one is appropriate for the scene) away! You're PERFECT for each other. It's so freaking obvious! WHY CAN'T YOU JUST ACCEPT IT!?!?! Ugh. *many heavy sighs and a few tears*
So as you can see, SEVEN DAY FIANCE was full of angst and heartache. But it was also brimming with wonderful romantic scenes. Loaded with great family values and traditions. And doused in FUN and excitement and thrills. *wags eyebrows*

Seriously now, SEVEN DAY FIANCE was a great addition to Rachel's LOVE and GAMES series. It's perfect for cuddling up and losing yourself in for a few short hours. It's perfect for dreamers and schemers and romantics at heart. And it will leave you feeling fully satisfied. You don't have to read the first book to enjoy this one, but it will give you a bit of early insight to these complicated and endearing characters. So my advice? Read them BOTH. And do it now....;)
